‘Do it well

Quick up-dos to imitate the stars while staying office appropriate.

By: Ashley Kowalewski

With award season come and gone, everyone can now relax and get back to their regularly scheduled programming. However, if you loved some of the updos of the stars, but don’t have a lot of time in the morning, here are some easy ways to look red-carpet ready and office-appropriate, without a lot of fuss.

We love:

Emma Stone at the 84th Annual Academy Awards

Emma Stone’s low side chignon. While a chignon can sometimes require more experience, it isn’t that hard a look to achieve. Start by putting hair in a low ponytail, off to one side of the neck. Next, wrap the ponytail into a low bun by the nape of the neck, and pull through the bun into a knot. Secure with bobby pins.

Tina Fey at the 84th Annual Academy Awards

Tina Fey’s bump and high bun. Great for days when there’s no time to wash and style your hair, the low bump works better when your hair isn’t freshly washed. Start by teasing hair at the front into a bump, secure, and then work the back into a high bun. If you have time to do a sock bun, even better.

Sandra Bullock at the 84th Annual Academy Awards

Sandra Bullock’s classic ponytail. When in doubt, go with a basic ponytail. A classic look that can be jazzed up with big earrings or a headband. Leave a longer chunk of hair out of the ponytail to wrap around the elastic for a little something extra.
