Quick workout tips for when you only have a few minutes.

By: Ashley Kowalewski

Working out is something that so many people avoid because they think that they don’t have the time do it. There are so many exercises that you can do, even if you only have a few minutes to spare. You’re supposed to do 30 minutes of cardio a day, but for the days when that extra 30 minutes just doesn’t exist, try these tips to keep in shape on the go:

Walking: Walk whenever possible. Take the stairs instead of the elevator; go for a walk to the coffee shop on your lunch break; park at the back of the parking lot so you are forced to walk farther to and from your car. Walking is great exercise, and forces it you to move around without over-exerting yourself or breaking a sweat.

To do a proper squat, start by standing straight up. Bend your knees so that your thighs are parallel with the ground, and then push upwards, using your body as resistance. Repeat 5-10 times.

Squats: Great for burning calories because they target some of your main muscles. Squats can be done at any time and anywhere, and you only need to do a few at a time to feel the difference. You can use your own body for resistance by pushing up out of the squat slower, but when you have more time, resistance bands and dumbbells work great too.

Jumping Jacks: Perfect for getting your heart pumping, doing five minutes of jumping jacks in the morning before your shower. Enhance your jumping jacks further by jumping from a squat position. It tones your legs and gets your heart going.

Bicep Curls: Working out your arms is great because arms are the first body parts to show muscle sculpting, so you know those exercises are working. Do bicep curls at your desk when you’re on hold and you can use your arms as resistance, or grab your stapler for some added weight.

Going to workout classes is great when you have the time and the energy to go, but with a busy life, it’s not always easy to make that time. We hope these quick workout tips will help get you motivated!
